Dodge City Roundup Rodeo

What is Dodge City Roundup, Inc.?

Dodge City Roundup, Inc. is a non-profit corporation formed to promote our Western Heritage through rodeos; horse shows, roping contests and related activities. These activities appeal to participants of all ages and an audience that reflects today’s active lifestyle.

At its inception (summer-1977), Dodge City Roundup had 175 contestants with a payout of $8,200. In 2007 our rodeo had grown to nearly 800 contestants competing at the Dodge City Roundup Rodeo with a payout of almost $275,000! We begin the rodeo action with our Celebrity/Pro-Am Team Roping, followed by five nights of PRCA Rodeo action!

We are home to one of the nation’s oldest and longest running Little Britches Rodeos. The Miss Rodeo Kansas Queen and Teen Pageants calls Dodge City Roundup their home, as well. The Dodge City Roundup High School Rodeo draws participants and their families from across the state to the arena for the high school rodeo competition. We’ll see well over 33,000 folks come through our gates each year, with around 25,000 of these individuals attending our PRCA rodeo.

Our PRCA rodeo is held during Dodge City Days, a ten-day community and area-wide event, taking place each year in late July and early August. Our Dodge City Days event is the second largest community event held in the entire state of Kansas! To kick off Dodge City Days, the Roundup Arena is transformed to an outdoor concert venue for the annual KKJQ/KYBD/KBUF-Dodge City Days Concert, packing in over 6,000 music-hungry fans, then back to a rodeo arena for the rodeo!

Along with local and area supporters, we partner with a number of national sponsors to present one of the top rodeos in the nation. Dodge City Roundup PRCA Rodeo has been awarded the Professional Rodeo Cowboy’s Association’s (PRCA) “Large Outdoor Rodeo Committee of the Year” an unprecedented nine times! This encourages us to strive continually for ways to expand our sponsor base and improve our events.
